Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Urban Designer to join our Design team in our Cambridge Office. You will work on urban extensions, strategic area regeneration projects, renewable energy and residential plans, collaborating with architects, planners, consultants, and clients to develop comprehensive design solutions.
Responsibilities
* Conduct urban design and planning activities, including feasibility studies and layout development.
* Formulate development briefs and design strategies for residential, mixed‑use schemes, and other projects.
* Prepare detailed design documents and RMA submissions.
* Interpret and adapt to local authority design guidance and planning system requirements.
* Support client engagement, relationship building, and requirement interpretation.
* Collaborate independently with other consultants.
* Contribute to project management and interdisciplinary coordination.
Qualifications
* Relevant degree (Undergraduate, Masters, or Diploma in Urban Design, Architecture, or Built Environment).
* Experience in private practice, consultancy, or commercial housebuilding operations.
* Experience with detailed design/RMA and outline applications.
* Working knowledge of the planning system and ability to adapt to local authority guidance.
* Proficiency in CAD software, with advantage in Vectorworks and/or SketchUp.
* Strong project management, interpersonal, and interdisciplinary skills.
* Self‑motivated with excellent eye for detail.
