Laboratory Manager Lubricant Manufacturing West Yorkshire Working closely with and reporting into the Technical Director your primary objective is to oversee the day to day management and efficiency of the Laboratory to maintain a safe working environment. Core activities include formulation and testing of lubricant products, maintaining SDSs, QC records and SOPs. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous formulation and testing experience in a laboratory environment to step up to lab management with a growing manufacturer of lubricants and specialty fluids. Reporting to the Technical Director responsibilities include: Managing the workload including formulation development, blending and Quality Control testing. Supervising the Laboratory QC Technician in daily quality testing / logging of QC data and maintaining the QC lab in an orderly condition. Oversee maintenance of laboratory equipment to ensure blending, operational and QC testing standards are met, record all calibration data. Work with the production and technical departments to review / write / update production standard operating procedures including addition of new formulations into systems ready for commercialisation. Oversee incoming and outgoing material checks to ensure consistency and integrity testing of raw materials and finished products to ensure quality standards are met. Updating of technical documents as processes and raw materials change i.e. technical data sheets and safety data sheets. Provide microbiological testing of water based fluids in support to customers through the sales and fluid management teams. Supervising and filing of all completed batch information, manufacturing data, QC records. Delivering high quality written reports as required. Maintain up to date knowledge of company products lines. Complying with all standards, internal policies and legal regulations that apply to the finished products. With the support of the senior management team oversee overall site health and safety including policies and procedures, risk assessments, COSHH assessments, permits to work (including hot permits), training and first aid. Other tasks as deemed suitable by the Technical Director. Qualifications & experience required: A-Level or equivalent in a science-based subject Relevant Degree (Chemistry or similar field) Lubricant, oil, grease formulation experience Knowledge of chemical additives / chemical manufacturing IT literate MS Word, Excel, Outlook etc Circa 5 years of experience in chemical manufacturing and lab testing Lab supervisory experience Remuneration: Fixed salary commensurate with experience circa £30K - £38K range negotiable Flexible holidays Flexibility on working hours, start/finish times Pension Variable annual bonus Free onsite parking Support for CPD
