Role Description
The Mechanical Senior Engineer is responsible for delivering the mechanical scope of work, including production and checking, reporting to a Principal Engineer. They will develop detailed design work packs and supervise designers in producing layout and detailed drawings.
The project is in the late stages of preliminary design, with some assemblies in final manufacturing and testing. The Mechanical Senior Engineer will support the design throughout all project phases, including testing and execution of parts in this phase. They will collaborate closely with the multi-disciplinary design team and plant-based teams.
The role involves guiding Mechanical Designers and Engineers in producing detailed drawings, sub-assemblies, general arrangements, layout drawings, flow diagrams, and parts lists. The engineer may also need to produce calculations to verify detailed designs and substantiation.
Additional responsibilities include producing and compiling technical files for machinery and UK CA compliance (e.g., RA's, O&M manuals).
Qualifications
* Experience working within a highly regulated industry, preferably nuclear.
* Familiarity with 'Design for Assembly' in a nuclear facility.
* Ability to manage workload and drive scope completion.
* Strong understanding of mechanical design in the nuclear sector.
* Experience producing technical files for UK CA and machinery directive compliance.
* Knowledge of machining and manufacturing processes.
* Experience in producing and reviewing mechanical calculations and deliverables.
* Skills in liaising with stakeholders and other design disciplines.
* Competent in report writing for clear findings.
* Ability to work under time and cost constraints.
* Excellent communication skills.
