Lead Engineer
Location: North London/Watford. Salary: £35,000-£45,000 DOE. Type: Permanent, Full‑time.
This is a customer‑facing, field‑based role requiring a reliable, forward‑thinking individual who can work independently and as part of a wider team.
Roles & Responsibilities
* Carry out electrical installation, testing and fault diagnosis at client sites across the UK.
* Diagnose and repair electrical faults efficiently in line with training and company procedures.
* Work safely in a variety of environments, taking all necessary precautions to prevent danger and avoid injury.
* Liaise with the Operations Supervisor regarding work schedules and daily activities.
* Communicate effectively with staff and customers at all levels while on site.
* Maintain strict timekeeping, adhering to start and finish times as detailed in work schedules.
* Proactively identify and prevent potential customer dissatisfaction, including effective route planning and forward preparation.
* Maintain a professional appearance and comply fully with company uniform standards.
* Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to travel anywhere within the UK, including during emergency situations.
* Mentor apprentices and trainee engineers.
* Provide technical assistance and support with difficult faults or jobs.
* Work unsocial hours when required, including bank holidays.
* Undertake any other ad‑hoc duties as directed by the company.
* Complete all required paperwork accurately, efficiently, and on time; ensure documentation is submitted to Head Office no later than the following Monday after works are completed.
Qualifications
* Essential:
o NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation
o 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
o Level 2 and Level 3 Technical Certificates
* Desirable:
o 2391 Testing & Inspection qualification (or 2392, with a booked test date)
o Gold JIB Card
o PASMA and IPAF certifications
Health, Safety & Compliance
* Comply with all employment legislation and relevant codes of good practice.
* Take reasonable care for own health and safety and that of others in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and associated legislation.
* Co‑operate fully with the company and colleagues to ensure statutory and safety requirements are met at all times.
