We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager from a civils construction background to lead the successful delivery of major infrastructure and civil engineering projects. The role requires full responsibility for project planning, commercial performance, health & safety, and client relationships, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
* Take full ownership of multiple or large-scale civil engineering projects from pre-construction through to handover
* Develop and manage project programmes, budgets, and resource plans
* Ensure works are delivered in line with contract requirements, specifications, and drawings
* Manage project risks, opportunities, and change control processes
Commercial & Contractual
* Oversee cost control, forecasting, and reporting in conjunction with commercial teams
* Manage variations, valuations, and final accounts
* Ensure compliance with contract conditions (NEC / JCT experience preferred)
Health, Safety & Quality
* Lead and promote a strong health & safety culture across all sites
* Ensure compliance with all HSEQ policies, RAMS, and statutory requirements
* Drive quality assurance processes and ensure right-first-time delivery
Stakeholder Management
* Act as the main point of contact for clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams
* Build and maintain strong client relationships to support repeat business
* Chair progress meetings and provide clear, accurate reporting to senior management
Leadership & Team Management
* Lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers, Site Managers, and Engineers
* Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers to ensure efficient site operations
* Drive performance, accountability, and continuous improvement

* Groundworks & earthworks
* Utilities (water, gas, power)
* Drainage & deep drainage
* Structures & reinforced concrete
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager or Project Manager within civils construction
* Strong background with a civil engineering contractor or main contractor
* Excellent knowledge of construction methodologies and sequencing
* Strong commercial and contractual awareness
* Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and complex programmes
* Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
Qualifications
* HNC / HND / Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (preferred)
* SMSTS (essential)
* CSCS (Black or Gold preferred)
* First Aid at Work
* NEC contract experience (highly desirable)
* APM / PMP qualification (advantageous)
