Operating for a variety of clients across Essex and North East London, the 75‑year‑old, 11‑partner full‑service firm serves owner‑managed businesses, entrepreneur owners and UK subsidiaries of large international groups.
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Accounts Manager to lead a portfolio of clients and oversee all aspects of statutory accounts work. The role involves managing client relationships, ensuring deadlines are met, and leading a team of professionals to deliver high‑quality results.
Core Responsibilities
* Plan jobs and liaise with clients to understand their needs and key assignment elements.
* Decide when to outsource versus complete work in‑house.
* Prepare budgets and timings, sign off with clients, and ensure adherence.
* Manage assignment lifecycles, delegating and reviewing staff work to meet standards.
* Engage in business development and identify additional revenue opportunities.
* Provide timely feedback to partners on client issues and produce high‑quality complete files with minimal review points.
* Manage team performance and development, ensuring high‑quality work and timely feedback.
* Ensure milestones, probationary reviews, and annual appraisals are carried out on time.
* Perform any other duties required for the execution of the role.
Who We Are Looking For
* Qualified ACA/ACCA with strong technical competence.
* Proven portfolio management track record.
* Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
* Extensive experience with statutory and management accounts in a mid‑tier practice.
* Experience managing and developing a team.
* Knowledge of current UK GAAP accounting standards.
* IT literacy with experience in Xero, CaseWare, Sage and CCH an advantage.
* Strong VAT knowledge.
* Car and clean driving licence.
