Job Overview
The post holder reports to the Programme Manager of Children’s Social Work and is responsible for undertaking activities related to the successful completion of Shetland’s Bairns’ Hoose project. Responsibilities include leading the development and implementation of local standards in line with the Scottish Bairns’ Hoose Standards, and undertaking research to support project management and service development based on coproduction principles.
Funding and Context
This role is funded by the Scottish Government’s Bairns’ Hoose Development Fund, which supports local approaches to implementing the Standards. Bairns’ Hoose provides holistic, child-centred support to children who have experienced or witnessed abuse, and to children under the age of criminal responsibility whose behaviour has caused harm. It emphasizes collaboration across agencies, trauma-informed practice, and creating a safe, respectful environment.

* Salary includes Distant Islands Allowance of £2,859 per annum (pro rata)
* Temporary, full-time, 37 hours/week, for approximately 12 months (possible extension)
* Applicants must join or update the PVG Scheme before employment
* No relocation package; interview expenses paid within Shetland
* Must be able to travel across Shetland at short notice, with limited public transport
* Flexible working arrangements available
