Job Title: Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Fellow
The successful applicant will join a dynamic and welcoming multidisciplinary team providing inpatient and outpatient care at Bristol Adult CF Centre, NHS England-commissioned specialist centre for around 300 adults with CF in the Severn region, based at Bristol Royal Infirmary. The post offers excellent training and experience in CF and respiratory medicine, with opportunities to gain exposure in clinical microbiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology/hepatology, and palliative care, while developing communication and MDT working skills.
The postholder will actively participate in CF research as part of the CF Clinical Trials Accelerator Programme (CTPA). There are also opportunities to contribute to continuing education, professional development, and audit activities. This role is suitable for applicants aiming to pursue a career in respiratory medicine and/or cystic fibrosis, but also accommodates those interested in other specialties such as general practice, medical microbiology, gastroenterology, or endocrinology.
No prior specialist experience or knowledge of cystic fibrosis medicine is required, as training will be provided on the job. The CF Fellow works with a rotational respiratory specialist registrar and is supported by three highly engaged consultants. The environment is genuinely multidisciplinary.
The post is open to post-Foundation doctors of any grade. Past holders have included post-F2, post-CMT, and post-CCT doctors, with responsibilities tailored to the individual's experience. Applicants must have at least 12 months of NHS experience; those without this requirement will not be shortlisted.
Working hours are 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday. On-call duties are not included, but locum out-of-hours work may be available if it does not impact core hours. The initial contract is for 12 months, but shorter durations are considered.
