About the Role
The post-holder will work within the Quality Assurance team and will play a key role in ensuring that the business remains compliant with its Quality Management System (QMS), regulatory requirements, and customer-specific standards. This is a technically demanding position requiring significant knowledge of auditing processes and procedures, and experience working with customer and regulatory standards.
You will plan and undertake internal audits in line with the Mettis audit schedule, ensuring that products and processes remain compliant. Where nonconformance is identified, you will raise and manage NCRs through to closure, working cross-functionally to drive effective containment and prevent recurrence.
Represent Mettis during customer and regulatory external audits and will work as part of a team responsible for customer-driven inspections prior to dispatch (DQR/DPRV). You will use key processes including the internal auditing system, NCR management, and integration of internal processes and procedures to drive continuous improvement.

As a condition of employment, successful candidates are required to fulfil a DBS clearance before commencing this role, to satisfy ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) compliance.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
* Communicate effectively within the team and with internal/external customers
* Conduct internal Quality System audits in accordance with the audit schedule
* Raise NCRs and work cross-functionally to manage and close them
* Participate in cross-functional NCR reviews and 3rd-party audits
* Ensure the latest revisions of internal and customer specifications are used across the business
* Support compliance through auditing, NCR management, and adherence to in-house processes and procedures
* Perform customer-driven inspection activities (DQR/DPRV) as required
* Undertake any additional quality-related activities necessary for the role
Safety Responsibilities
* Comply with EHS and legislative standards
* Adhere to all PPE and safety policy requirements
* Comply with occupational health requirements
* Participate in risk assessments and “near miss” mitigation activities
Quality Responsibilities
* Control method-of-manufacture status and prevent noncompliant methods being issued
* Flow down customer technical and quality information into part-specific methods
* Incorporate Mettis Quality Instructions, SOPs, and care points to enhance process capability
* Work with Quality & Manufacturing Engineering to embed process improvements
* Ensure specification updates are incorporated into methods of manufacture at review stage
Delivery Responsibilities
* Support Operations and Release teams with timely, effective DQR/DPRV inspection
* Liaise with Special Processes, Laboratory, and Operations teams to ensure process adherence
Cost Responsibilities
* Ensure process adherence to reduce scrap and rework caused by nonconformance
* Support external audit readiness, helping reduce NCRs and minimise repeat audit requirements
People Responsibilities
* Demonstrate proactive teamwork across Quality, Engineering, and Operations
* Maintain high standards of written and verbal communication internally and externally
* Comply with all Mettis HR policies and procedures
Business Responsibilities
* Act as an ambassador for Mettis
* Role model the company’s Vision, Mission, and Values
Qualifications
* Engineering degree, or equivalent experience
* Demonstrable Quality experience in aerospace or a similar high-compliance environment
* Understanding of AS9100, AS13100, NADCAP, and aerospace prime customer requirements
* Knowledge of aerospace forging processes and hot metal forming (advantageous)
* Deep appreciation of aerospace materials and process-related specifications
* Ability to use EFACS or similar systems to interrogate order and manufacturing data
* Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
