The postholder will provide advanced, autonomous specialist nursing care for patients requiring intestinal failure and artificial nutrition support across hospital and community settings, managing a complex caseload from referral through assessment, treatment, review, and follow up.
They will lead nurse led clinics, coordinate multidisciplinary care, and act as a key point of contact for patients, carers, and healthcare professionals, ensuring safe, effective, and compassionate care. The role includes offering expert clinical advice, supporting discharge planning, and promoting patient education and self management. The postholder will also demonstrate strong clinical leadership, contributing to service development, audit, quality improvement, education, and research, while supporting staff development and ensuring practice aligns with national standards and Trust policies.

* To operate autonomously at an advanced level of clinical practice providing research based expert care and advice to all colleagues and managing a caseload effectively, making the most of available time
* To accept referrals from medical/nursing staff both within and external to the Trust, of newly diagnosed and existing patients
* To periodically review caseload and to discharge patients appropriately within divisional guidelines
* To ensure that patients are seen within the recommended time scales and targets where these are in place
* To utilise specialist skills, underpinned by in depth theoretical knowledge, to facilitate the assessment, planning and implementation of individualised programmes of care for patients presenting with a specialist condition and to evaluate their programmes of care
