Specialty Doctor in Paediatrics

At EKHUFT we are pleased to be offering position of Speciality Doctor in Paediatrics to join a dynamic Child Health Team. The appointee will participate in EWTD compliant full shift Rota of 13 Middle Grades to cover 24 hours, 7 days a week General Paediatrics (number of children admitted, number of children seen in ED) and Neonatal (level 1 SCBU in busy maternity services with 3600 labour a year) acute and emergency care for children and young people age 0 - 16 (18) in various hospital environments specially designated and staffed for children and young people in Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate (QEQM). Attendances to A&E from April 2017: November 2021 57,535 and admissions to Rainbow Ward: 10,934.
Main duties of the job
Our rota supplies two Middle Grades a day from 8:30 AM to 9 PM, two middle grades every night (24/7). Additionally, Monday to Friday, 1 middle grade is dedicated to Neonates 8:30 AM to 5 PM, 1 middle grade dedicated to run an outpatient clinic with a Consultant 9:00am-5pm.
We will work with you to shape the ideal job plan upon successful appointment, and review it with you after three months and then annually - so you can keep the perfect fit.
Middle Grades will receive 0.5 PA of CPD a week in 12 PA full time contract and we will also provide the essential resources to support you in your duties, including administrative support.

Person Specification
Qualifications and training
* MBBS or equivalent
* F2 competencies acquired in 2 years of clinical practice before entering Paediatric training.
* 3 years clinical practice in acute inpatient Paediatrics, of what 6 months of acute Neonatology.
* Membership of RCPCH or equivalent
* Experience of working in NHS
* Experience in NICU
* Experience in Paediatric ED
* Experience in PICU
Skills and experience
* APLS/EPALS
* NLS
* Experience in Postgraduate or/and undergraduate education
Clinical governance
* Awareness of role of the guidelines
