Embedded Firmware Engineer

The Role:
The Firmware Engineer will join a cross-functional team of electrical, firmware, and mechanical engineers working on our next-generation cryogenic vacuum pumps and chillers. The engineer should demonstrate a methodical and detailed approach to firmware development, familiar with industry standards for code architecture and capable of understanding and modifying legacy code.

Main Responsibilities:
* Detailing requirements, firmware implementation, integration, and system testing in Edwards cryogenic vacuum pumps and chillers
* Developing and designing multi-threaded embedded applications for cryogenics pumps and compressors
* Understanding legacy product development and working principles
* Developing test suites for validation and testing
* Maintaining and managing source code
* Overseeing hands-on testing using real equipment in a lab environment
* Working as part of a team to deliver on-time and first-time-right solutions
* Participating in Agile/SCRUM practices such as standups, grooming, planning, and retrospectives
Qualifications:
* Degree in Computer, Software, or Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of industry experience
* Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, and Linux
* Experience in embedded controls and real-time data processing in embedded systems
* Proactive, self-motivated problem-solving approach
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to collaborate closely with hardware and SQA teams

Preferred Skills:
* Experience with system identification
* Knowledge of Python, VBA scripting for test automation
* Device driver development experience for EEPROM, SPI, CAN, SERIAL, FLASH devices
* Familiarity with VxWorks, QNX, Windows CE, Linux operating systems
