Overview
The post holder will oversee the delivery of the Child and Adolescent ST training Programme in NHSE England North West, covering both the East (formerly North West) and West (formerly Mersey) parts of the Scheme. The post holder will support the Head of School in the strategic development of the North West School of Psychiatry and contribute to the School Operational Programme. The post holder is a member of the School Board and the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Speciality Training committee.
Key Responsibilities
The Training Programme Director will focus upon improvement of learner supervision, assessment and experience, engagement of faculty and ensuring effective educational outcomes, both now and in the future. The role is evolving to include whole workforce transformation and developing multi‑professional links.
* Oversee the Specialty’s Regional Training Programme
* Handle specialty‑specific matters and trainee/trainer concerns
* Recruit to training posts and programmes
* Manage the postgraduate programme, including assessments, progression, rotations, support and remediation, OOP management, trainee career support, less‑than‑full‑time training, inter‑deanery transfer, academic training and other related work‑streams.
* Ensure national standards set by the Royal College and other guidelines are met.
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate is an experienced NHS Consultant with a thorough understanding of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry training across the region. Strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a multi‑professional team, are essential.
