Expected Workload:
* Cover of 20 respiratory beds, including daily review of NIV patients.
* Shared post-take ward rounds when on-call.
Outpatients (illustrative):
* 1-2 general respiratory clinics per week (mix of new and follow-up patients).
* Participation in sub-specialty clinics (lung cancer, ILD, pleural, TB, sleep and NIV, etc.).
* Involvement in EBUS, bronchoscopy, and pleural procedure lists.
You will be expected to contribute to around 2-3 new patient slots and 6-8 follow-ups per clinic session, aligned with job plan discussions and adjusted for clinical demand.
Responsibilities:
* Deliver high-quality care to patients with a broad spectrum of respiratory conditions: asthma, COPD, ILD, TB, lung cancer, pleural disease, sleep-disordered breathing, etc.
* Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings for lung cancer, ILD, TB, and vasculitis.
* Contribute to the acute respiratory inpatient service, respiratory consult service, and outpatients.
* Be encouraged to take part in the Acute General Medicine on-call rota if able and willing.
On-call Commitments and Weekend Working:
Participation in the Acute General Medicine on-call rota is encouraged but not mandatory, depending on the candidate's competencies and service needs. For those participating:
* The rota currently runs on a 1:10 basis, covering evenings and weekends on a rolling schedule
* Duties include clerking medical admissions, leading post-take ward rounds, and providing senior clinical input across general medical inpatients
* Consultants have registrar and junior doctor support during on-call shifts
* Emergency respiratory reviews may also be required during on-call periods
* Weekend working may include respiratory in-reach or post-take responsibilities and is rota-dependent
* TOIL (Time Off In Lieu) is provided in line with Trust policy for any non-standard hours or weekend work

You will be expected to contribute to the Trust's clinical governance agenda, including audit, incident reporting, and quality improvement. They will be required to maintain their licence to practise through annual appraisal and 5-yearly revalidation with the GMC.
