Safeguarding Statement
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Our recruitment and selection processes are designed to deter and prevent unsuitable individuals from working with children.
All appointments are subject to satisfactory safer recruitment and pre-employment checks, which may include an enhanced DBS disclosure (including a Children’s Barred List check where the role involves regulated activity), verification of identity and right to work in the UK, confirmation of professional qualifications and any required professional registration (e.g. Education Workforce Council), satisfactory references including specific safeguarding questions, and occupational health clearance where required.

Applicants must provide a full employment history, including education, employment and voluntary work, and explain any gaps in employment. These will be explored as part of the shortlisting and interview process.
References must include the applicant’s current or most recent employer and the last employer where the applicant worked with children, where applicable. References will be sought and verified directly, and candidates must not obtain their own references.
If shortlisted, any discrepancies, anomalies or concerns identified during the recruitment process will be discussed at interview and/or during pre-employment checks.
Where a role involves regulated activity relevant to children, applicants will be informed that it is an offence to apply if they are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
