Overview
The Christie NHS Foundation Trust is looking for Domestic Assistants to join the relief pool, working in all wards and departments across the Trust site, including Covid-19 areas and other infection areas. Flexible, reliable, enthusiastic and adaptable individuals with cleaning experience are invited to apply, with opportunities to develop while working in a team embracing the revised National Cleaning Standards.
Shifts
* Monday to Friday — 06:00-11:00, including bank holidays, 25 hours a week.
* Thursday to Monday — 16:00-20:00, including bank holidays, 20 hours a week.
* Friday to Monday — 08:00-16:00, including bank holidays, 30 hours a week.
Main duties
* Assist in maintaining a clean, hygienic and safe environment for patients and clinical staff.
* Assist Nurses and other stakeholders with discharge/infection cleans as per local RAG poster and in line with the National Standards of Cleanliness.
* Provide a rapid response service to a high standard of cleanliness to all wards and departments under the supervision of the domestic supervisor; use of mechanical and electrical equipment following training.
Responsibilities
* Provide an efficient, high quality domestic service to patients, visitors and staff.
* Adhere to cleaning policies, procedures and cleaning frequencies.
* Be aware of health and safety risk assessments and procedures.
* Operate mechanical cleaning equipment (scrubbing, buffing, vacuum cleaners, carpet shampoo equipment) and report hazards to the domestic supervisor.
* Remove clinical and general waste to designated waste stores; report accidents and incidents.
* Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and clean uniform in accordance with Trust policy.
* Respond to audits within the given timescale and report signs of infestation to the Domestic Supervisor.
* Ensure cleaning standards align with National Cleaning Standards and NSHCC where applicable.
* Liaise with ward/department staff to prioritise work areas and workloads; maintain good communication and sensitivity when interacting with patients and relatives.
* Undertake induction and mandatory training, maintain compliance with CET and other Trust requirements, and operate in accordance with COSHH regulations.
* Work largely unsupervised, with ability to seek supervision when needed; respond to ward/department activity and adapt to changing schedules.
* Physical duties include lifting, bending and long periods of standing, and occasional work at heights; exposure to dirt, dust and bodily fluids.
* Undertake isolation cleaning as required following correct procedures (Appendix A) and ensure full uniform and PPE are worn at all times.
