Job Description
This role requires a strong balance of visible leadership, operational excellence, strategic thinking, and financial acumen, alongside the ability to communicate confidently and credibly with both new and existing clients at senior level. The successful candidate will lead complex engineering projects while driving commercial performance and long-term client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and deliver complex engineering projects across multiple clients, ensuring successful outcomes in line with programme, cost, and quality expectations.
* Demonstrate proven experience delivering projects within this sector, taking clear ownership and accountability for results.
* Provide strong leadership, setting the standard as a role model while motivating and guiding multidisciplinary teams.
* Adapt effectively to a diverse project portfolio and manage concurrent workstreams for key customers.
* Apply strong commercial judgement across pre-construction, procurement, and execution phases, ensuring value-driven decision-making.
* Establish and maintain robust project controls, including planning, cost management, risk management, and reporting.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance delivery, efficiency, and performance.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of business strategy through analysis, insight, and informed decision-making.
* Maintain tight control of costs, schedules, and quality to ensure consistent delivery of major projects.
* Build and sustain strong, trust-based client relationships, delivering on commitments and expectations.
* Manage resources effectively (people, budgets, materials, and support functions) to achieve project objectives efficiently.
* Proactively challenge existing practices, assessing risks and opportunities to ensure informed, data-driven decisions.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
* Minimum 5 years’ experience managing engineering projects, ideally within the energy, power, or related industrial sectors.
* Advanced project management capability, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.
* Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to inspire and align cross-functional teams.
* Strong technical foundation in mechanical or electrical engineering principles and industry standards.
* Proficient in the use of project management and reporting tools.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all organisational levels.
