Work in this family We are looking for a Lead Design Engineer – Steam Turbine to join the Steam Power Services Engineering team in Rugby, UK. In this role, you will lead the mechanical design and technical integration of steam turbine components, supporting the performance, reliability, and life extension of existing nuclear and fossil power plants.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the mechanical design definition of steam turbines, including materials selection, manufacturing processes, and factory and site assembly procedures
* Develop and maintain 3D design models using CATIA V5 or NX, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and design intent
* Integrate components designed by internal and external engineering teams into a complete and optimized steam turbine design
* Review and approve engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs) produced by drafting teams
* Provide on-site engineering support for:
o Manufacturing activities, including resolution of non-conformances
o Factory and site assembly
o Installation and commissioning
o Operational, performance, and reliability issues across the installed fleet
* Apply engineering judgment to adapt procedures and practices while ensuring quality, safety, delivery, and performance requirements are met
Must-have requirements:
* Advanced experience in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering/Technology, demonstrated through:
o A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, or
o A high school diploma with significant relevant industry experience
* Demonstrated, successful experience in steam turbine mechanical design
* Strong working knowledge of modern CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems
* Solid understanding of steam turbine operation, performance, and analysis
* Willingness and ability to travel regionally and internationally, including to manufacturing sites and customer locations
* Willingness and ability to provide on-site engineering support during manufacturing, installation, and outage activities as required
