The role
This is a senior leadership role which will report to the Deputy Director of Nursing and Quality and work closely with the Executive Director of Nursing and Quality to provide strong professional leadership across the scope of the patient safety and quality agenda to ensure high quality safe clinical care is delivered consistently across the Charity.
Responsibilities
* Providing patient safety expertise and leadership throughout the Charity
* Working closely with colleagues to develop the culture of care at St Andrew’s aligned to the principles of a Just and Learning organisation.
* Leading on the implementation and embedding of the Patient Safety incident response framework (PSIRF).
* Taking overall responsibility for leading and developing patient safety strategies, policies and activities across the Charity.
* Being the recognised expert leading on patient safety including being able to provide professional and specialist knowledge on patient safety and safety improvement practices.
* Ensuring that systems thinking, human factors understanding and just culture principles are embedded in patient safety processes.
* Maintaining the principles of openness and honesty with patients and their families, providing leadership across the organisation on Duty of Candour obligations.
About You
You will have significant experience of working within the Patient Safety field with high level knowledge of all current issues, including regulatory requirements related to safety and quality and regulation.
You will bring extensive experience of managing and motivating diverse and multi-professional teams and have a strong track record of achieving quality improvements.
You will hold a relevant specialist clinical/healthcare qualification and professional registration.
You will also bring experience of achieving improvements for patients through service transformation involving staff, patients, their families and other stakeholders. You will have both the breadth and depth of skills to fulfil the role described above and strong leadership skills to inspire and lead with a focus on excellence and accountability.
