The role
As a Senior Commercial Manager, you’ll take a leading role within our UK Aviation business, supporting delivery across major UK defence and civil aviation programmes. You’ll work within a trusted, integrated environment alongside our joint‑venture customers to deliver IT and infrastructure capability for projects that are critical to national operations. In this role, you’ll influence commercial strategy, shape contract delivery, and support business growth while developing solutions that drive long‑term value and resilience.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
1. Lead end‑to‑end commercial and contract management across Babcock’s responsibilities within the Future Strategic Tanker Aircraft (FSTA) and UK Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS) programmes.
2. Work in partnership with customers and stakeholders to ensure changes are delivered on time, to quality and within budget.
3. Provide commercial and legal insight and guidance to protect Babcock’s interests and ensure best‑practice decision‑making.
4. Present accurate commercial data and insight to key stakeholders, ensuring senior leadership has the information needed for strategic direction.
5. Analyse and recommend commercial strategies, options, and models to support business and growth opportunities.
You’ll join us on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract, working 37 hours per week, with flexible start and finish times. The role is remote/hybrid, advertised as Bristol‑based, but with the flexibility to work across UK sites as needed.
Essential experience of the Senior Commercial Manager:
6. Experience in contract delivery and management within a commercial organisation or public sector setting.
7. Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
8. Strong presentation skills with the ability to communicate to customers and internal stakeholders.
9. Knowledge of NEC4 contracts, PFI contracting and/or joint venture environments. (Desirable)
Qualifications for the Senior Commercial Manager:
10. MCIPS / WCC qualification. (Desirable)
11. Degree or equivalent experience in a commercial discipline. (Desirable)
