Modern Workplace Engineer
About the Role
A leading UK-based company is seeking a Senior Digital Workplace Engineer to take ownership of Microsoft-based workplace technologies and cloud integrations. This technical leadership role is ideal for someone who thrives in hybrid environments and is passionate about enabling seamless, secure collaboration across a modern digital workforce.
You’ll work cross-functionally with Engineering, InfoSec, and business stakeholders to deliver and support a secure, scalable digital workplace.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead hardware and software asset management (provisioning, patching, compliance)
* Provide expert support for both Windows and macOS environments
* Maintain and support network infrastructure, VPNs, and firewalls
* Deploy and optimise Microsoft services: Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune
* Design and implement backup and recovery solutions
* Deliver identity and access management integrations including SSO and SCIM
* Manage API integrations using OAuth, OIDC, and other standard protocols
* Improve service desk tooling and support workflows
What You’ll Bring
* 5+ years in Modern Workplace engineering roles
* Deep experience with Microsoft services (M365, Entra ID, Intune, Defender, etc.)
* Automation via PowerShell or Microsoft Graph
* Proven ability to deliver SSO, SCIM provisioning, and REST-based API integrations
* Solid networking knowledge (VPN, DNS, firewalls)
* Experience with cloud backup and recovery
* Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capability
* Excellent communication and stakeholder skills
Desirable Experience
* Microsoft certifications (MS-102, SC-100, SC-300, AZ-104, AZ-140, AZ-500)
* Familiarity with JAMF, Jira, Confluence
* Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, etc.)
