Recent events, such as Grenfell, have highlighted the critical importance of health and safety in construction and building management. As a Graduate Health and Safety Consultant, you will play an essential role in creating safer spaces and ensuring that people’s safety remains a top priority.

In this role, you will explore how construction projects and properties are designed, managed, and maintained with safety in mind. You will gain hands‑on experience, learning how to identify and mitigate risks while supporting clients in meeting legal and regulatory standards. With structured training, mentoring, and support to achieve chartered status, this is an opportunity to build a rewarding career that makes a tangible difference to people’s lives.

Role Responsibilities

* Support clients by providing guidance on meeting legal obligations, including the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM).
* Assist in identifying and mitigating risks related to construction projects, maintenance activities, and property management.
* Conduct risk assessments and on‑site safety inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
* Evaluate and document hazards, such as working at heights, asbestos management, and general site conditions.
* Prepare, review, and maintain essential Health and Safety documentation for clients.
* Ensure all records align with regulatory and best practice standards.
* Collaborate with design and construction teams to embed safety practices into project planning and execution.
* Provide input on designing safe and compliant buildings that meet regulatory and industry standards.
* Work on building key professional skills, including problem‑solving, time management, effective communication, and stakeholder management.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

* A degree in a construction‑related discipline, such as Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a similar field.
* A genuine interest in Health and Safety and a desire to contribute to safe building practices.
* Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proactive and solution‑oriented mindset.

Desirable

* Familiarity with Health and Safety regulations, including CDM and/or Building Safety.
* Any previous experience (internships, placements, or projects) in construction, property, or risk management.

What We Offer

* Tailored graduate training, including mentorship from experienced Health and Safety professionals.
* Sponsorship and support to achieve professional qualifications, including IOSH, and eventual chartered status.
* Exposure to diverse construction projects and property management challenges, offering real‑world learning opportunities.
* Structured development of essential skills, such as risk management, stakeholder communication, and project planning.
* A collaborative, inclusive workplace culture that values your contributions and fosters growth beyond chartership.

Employee Benefits

* Hybrid working arrangements to support work‑life balance.
* Competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and the opportunity to purchase up to five extra days.
* Health and wellness options including gym membership and cycle‑to‑work schemes.
* Private healthcare insurance and medical support, including dental insurance and eyecare vouchers.
* Continuous learning and development programme, including APC and in‑house mentoring schemes.
* Season‑ticket loan and professional membership subscriptions.
* Opportunity to work on diverse projects across different sectors and regions.
* Team and social events, charity fundraising and volunteering activities.

Our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Commitment

We believe in building a diverse and inclusive environment where each person can be themselves, feel valued for their contribution and be challenged and supported to reach their full potential. We have a responsibility to support the communities in which we live and work, and that our workforce should reflect these communities and our clients. Our talent strategy should enable us to overcome bias in the construction industry by recruiting, retaining, developing, and promoting a diverse and inclusive workforce.
