Job Description
Astute's Renewables team is partnering with an innovative organisation that delivers complex energy and engineering solutions across major infrastructure projects, utility networks, and critical customer systems. They are looking to recruit an experienced Site Electrical Engineer to join a growing team delivering power and renewables projects across the UK.
The role offers a salary between £60,000-£65,000, depending on experience, along with benefits such as access to a benefits platform, high street discounts, gym savings, and enhanced pension and life cover.
Responsibilities and duties of the Site Electrical Engineer role include:
1. Overseeing the electrical elements of HV/LV infrastructure projects from design handover through to completion, ensuring quality and compliance.
2. Supporting Project and Site Managers by providing technical guidance and reviewing drawings, specifications, and client requirements.
3. Coordinating testing, commissioning, and project deliverables to meet programme milestones.
4. Leading technical meetings and liaising with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and utility providers.
5. Ensuring all works adhere to industry standards (e.g., G81, BS7671) and project-specific regulations.
6. Managing and mentoring site teams, including supervisors and subcontractors, to ensure safe and efficient delivery.
7. Reviewing project risks, managing resources, and supporting commercial teams with tenders and procurement.
8. Assisting with commissioning strategies, QA checks, and test documentation.
9. Supporting planning and compliance of street works, ensuring adherence to legal and safety regulations (e.g., CDM, NRSWA, NJUG).
10. Participating in design reviews, HSEQ audits, and project meetings.
11. Collaborating with sales and design teams to ensure technical feasibility of proposals.
12. Contributing to 'as-built' documentation and safety files at project close.
13. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge through training, CPD, and internal programs.
Professional qualifications required:
* HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
* 5+ years of site experience working on HV/LV cable installation, earthing, and distribution systems up to 132kV.
* Experience working with DNOs, IDNOs, or ICPs.
* Involvement in renewable or embedded projects.
* Previous AP or SAP authorisations.
* Working knowledge of electrical design drawings and specifications.
* Familiarity with frameworks such as G81, Section 50, and DNO authorisations (LV/HV).
Desirable:
* SAP qualification (LV & HV).
* IOSH Managing Safely.
* Experience working under NEC or other standard construction contracts.
Personal skills:
* Solid understanding of construction standards and procedures.
* Strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental legislation (CDM, HSG guidance).
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and project planning tools like MS Project.
* Ability to interpret technical documentation confidently on site.
* Proactive with a safety-first approach.
