Overview
RME Manager (relocation to Rochester, UK) – based in Rochester, UK. Amazon Operations sits at the heart of the customer experience, delivering from order to doorstep. We are part of a global network of Fulfillment Centers, Delivery Stations, and teams committed to safety, reliability, and customer service excellence. The Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team maintains and optimizes technologies in the Global Amazon Warehouse & Delivery Network. This role leads Engineering matters within a building, drives safety culture, ensures statutory compliance, and partners with EU Engineering to plan growth and improvements. Travel up to 15% is required.
Key responsibilities
* Lead the site Engineering team; own annual reporting and mentor direct reports who develop technicians.
* Collaborate with Site Safety and Site Leadership to implement, record, and audit safety and statutory compliance programs; act as the site engineering lead within this framework.
* Work with Recruitment to fill headcount with qualified staff; may support Apprentice and Graduate programs.
* Implement and maintain standards validated by the EU Engineering team; participate in continuous improvement to ensure safety and equipment availability; focus on preventative maintenance.
* Maintain equipment failure contingency plans, coordinate rehearsals with affected parties, and respond quickly to outages.
* Plan for future growth, upgrades, or new equipment in collaboration with Site Management, Finance, EU Engineering, and internal design teams.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience at Amazon
* Proven experience in Engineering Facilities Management
* Strong direct People Management experience (employee and performance management)
* Experience in maintenance/reliability
* Experience with Cost Control and Budgeting
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in design reviews for electrical, mechanical, and automation controls to drive reliability and standards
* Experience with automated conveyors systems, electrical/electronic principles, blueprint reading, CMMS, preventive maintenance, industrial electrical/controls
* Project Management experience
* Experience with Six Sigma/Lean techniques
