The position of CMD Technician encompasses all requirements to ensure the safe, efficient and effective operation of the Cylinder Maintenance Department plant and other company property such as forklift trucks and vehicles. Being part of the CMD team you work entails the inspection and preparation of pressure cylinders and cylinder packs used in the wider business for the transportation and supply of pressurised gases. As such the following criteria form the basis for the position without limiting specific requirements, which may from time to time become necessary. The jobholder is required to build inspect and refurbish cylinders and cylinder packs in accordance with the Inspection Standard ISO/IEC 17020, the Company’s Codes of Practice 9072 and BS EN - ISO 9001 Quality Management System: Technician duties: Depressurise and de-valve cylinders Clean and brush cylinders Re-valve cylinders Paint cylinders Build multiple cylinder packs Ensure that cylinders are correctly sorted by size, colour code and pressure rating and stored safely. The CMD Operator will ensure that all required documentation is completed on a daily basis. The CMD Technician must adopt a flexible approach to their work to ensure the operational needs of the Company are met. This includes undertaking duties of a similar nature and responsibility as and when required, throughout the various places of work in the company but within the hours stated in the Contract of Employment. The CMD Inspector/Operative is required to maintain an appreciation and understanding of current best practice relating to the business through periodic updating or training. The above duties may involve having access to information of a confidential nature. Confidentiality must be maintained at all times. The principal accountabilities as listed above are not exhaustive and may vary without changing the character of the job or the level of responsibility. Are you a MATCH? Essential Knowledge and know-how specific to the role: Good understanding of mechanical engineering practices and tools. Able to interpret drawings, operating instructions and technical documents. Use of engineering measuring equipment such as micrometers, vernier calipers and optical inspection devices. Good standard of health and fitness (pre-employment medical). Good eye-sight (certified). Manual Handling training Desirable knowledge and know-how specific to the role: Forklift truck licence. Full, Clean U.K. Driving Licence, an advantage. Health and Safety and/or first aid qualifications. Desirable Management skills and behaviours The CMD Technician has a responsibility to ensure the premises are kept clean and tidy at all times and to advise the Manager of any repair work that becomes necessary. CMD personnel shall remain at all times independent, free from any commercial, financial and other pressures, which might affect their judgement in performance of the inspection activities. If at any time inducements or undue pressures are applied, the personnel shall immediately report the situation to Energas’ Group Quality Manager for action. The CMD Inspector/Operative is required to maintain an appreciation and understanding of current best practice relating to the business through periodic updating or training. Be a “Team Player” as far as working relationships are concerned. Be willing to undertake further training as may be required. Work towards their agreed personal and company objectives. Make useful suggestions to their Manager for improving the way in which the company operates.
