An exciting opportunity to join an established Children in Care Nursing team has arisen. We have two fixed term posts to offer.
1 x Fixed Term 37.5 hours per week for 18 months.
1 x Fixed Term 22.5 hours per week until November 2026.
Although the service operates Monday to Friday, covering core hours of 9-5, there is a requirement to show flexibility to meet service needs and the needs of children and young people.
We are looking for committed and creative individual to be part of the team taking the next steps in improving health outcomes for our Children in Care.
This vacancy is open to all internal and external candidates. NHS Employees should ideally secure their manager’s agreement for a secondment arrangement ideally prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made.
This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term basis for 18 months as it has been established to provide cover for two employees on maternity leave. Whilst this post is advertised on a fixed term / secondment basis there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future.
Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit a motivated practitioner, with initiative and drive, and up to date knowledge of the Children in Care health agenda. You will work as part of a team delivering statutory health assessments and health interventions for a defined caseload. You will need to have a broad understanding of children and young people's health issues. The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate flexibility and creative thinking in respect of service delivery.
Knowledge of recent documents and strategies driving the development of services for Children in Care is essential as well as understanding the principles of safeguarding children and young people.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills are required with a commitment to team working as well as being able to demonstrate working using own initiative. You will work closely with GPs, community paediatricians, children and young people and their families, our partner agencies and Commissioners to deliver a quality service.
An Enhanced DBS with checks against the Children's and Adults' Barred Lists will be obtained during pre-employment checks. Applicants will be required to see children and families face to face within a community setting.

Essential criteria
1. First Level RN (RSCN/ SCPHN-SN/SCPHN-HV) (To undertake this role you must have a current professional registration)
2. Degree in health-related subject or equivalent significant experience
Desirable criteria
3. Mentorship in Practice or equivalent
4. Health Visitor/School Nurse
5. Community prescribing qualification
Experience

6. Experience of working in a community environment
7. Experience of working with Children and Young People
8. Able to work autonomously

18. Understanding of the management of change
19. Knowledge of Adverse Childhood experiences and the impact

27. Ability to travel independently, locally and occasionally regionally
28. Able to make multiple site visits daily transporting required equipment
29. To undertake this post, you must be able to drive and have access to a vehicle.
