About the job:
We are actively looking for individuals that are passionate about making a difference and have an opportunity for a Commercial Finance Analyst to join our team. The role will report to Head of Pricing and will help drive impact for LGC by improve decision making through analysis to supporting pricing strategy development and implementation.
The role is analytical and will suit an individual with a strong understanding of Excel and has a desire to learn more about data analysis tools such as Tableau and working with SQL (where previous experience is a plus, but not essential). As part of a business-facing team, the role will also call on the ability to synthesize analysis, capture insight, and share findings with stakeholders.
Succeeding in this role will require strong analytical skills and appetite to continually strive to improve these in addition to problem solving skills to support moving forward the quality of pricing decision making within a fast-paced and ever-evolving organization.
What you’ll do:
The Commercial Finance Analyst will regularly support with two key activities and will have the opportunity to get involved with partnering with the business on new pricing initiatives and projects as the need arises.
Price reporting
1. Support with the creation, delivery, and impact of regular price reporting for a business unit
2. Work with stakeholders to develop their understanding of the impact of pricing decisions.
3. Use a combination of Excel and Tableau-based tools and datasets to investigate fluctuations and identify meaningful opportunities for the business to consider.
Pricing review processes
4. Support the pricing review process for a business unit, including creation of key analyses, and implementation of new pricing into systems.
5. Undertake revenue and margin analyses across product ranges, customers, regions to identify opportunities and challenges for consideration by the business.
6. Work with the Head of Pricing and VP Group Pricing to create meaningful analysis with clear narratives and guidance for the business.
Business partnering
7. Work with Head of Pricing and VP Group Pricing to partner with stakeholders across all levels of seniority on pricing projects and initiatives
8. Deliver ad-hoc analyses to support different functions across the business including marketing, product management, finance and commercial.
9. Prepare pricing analyses and proposals to support commercial team on business development
10. Develop a strong understanding of how the business unit works and the role that group pricing plays within their processes (including pricing tools and systems)
Qualifications
We’re seeking an analytical professional, with a solid foundation in data analysis. We’ll be looking for evidence and demonstration of a growth mindset and desire to learn and question, with the intention over time to have this role synthesizing and presenting findings to influence stakeholders and drive decision making.
Along with the strong fundamentals in Excel, we’re looking for someone who can demonstrate that they are able to work in a fast-paced team environment and is able to demonstrate an aptitude for solving problems to effectively overcome hurdles that arise and move projects forwards.
You’ll have (required):
11. 1-2 years’ work experience in an entrepreneurial environment, preferably (though not required) in a pricing, finance, or commercial function.
12. Degree level qualification or relevant professional qualification.
13. Intermediate-to-advanced knowledge of Excel, being comfortable structuring and working with Excel based analyses.
14. Basic-to-intermediate knowledge of PowerPoint, having experience communicating and presenting findings to an audience.
15. Good attention to detail, with a communication style to which others respond positively.
16. Worked in a team environment, collaborating effectively with colleagues at all levels.
17. Experience balancing priorities and able to manage stakeholder expectations to deliver on time.
18. Business-level proficiency / fluency in English
You might also have (desirable):
19. Experience with Tableau, PowerBI or other analytical tools.
20. Experience with IFS, SAP, Salesforce or other similar enterprise systems.
21. An understanding of or exposure to the Life Sciences industry.
22. SQL and PowerQuery experience.
