Role Description
We’re seeking an experienced and commercially astute Head of Retail Development with proven success in the World Foods category to help drive Taj Foods’ next phase of growth across national supermarkets, discounters, e-commerce, and foodservice in both the UK and EU.
Working directly with the Sales Director, you’ll develop and lead strategic relationships with:
🛒 ASDA | Tesco | Sainsbury’s | Morrisons | Iceland | Costco | Ocado | Farmfoods
🏪 Aldi | Lidl | Discounters | Cash & Carry Partners
🏢 Caterforce | Brakes | National Foodservice | A.F. Blakemore
Your mission: to execute Joint Business Plans (JBPs), win new listings, and deliver profitable, sustainable growth across multiple channels.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
✅ Lead and manage partnerships with major UK & EU supermarkets, discounters, and foodservice operators.
✅ Build and implement Joint Business Plans (JBPs) that deliver measurable growth.
✅ Negotiate commercials, promotions, and category strategies with key retailers.
✅ Identify and secure new business opportunities across retail, wholesale, and export.
✅ Represent Taj Foods at customer head offices, business reviews, and trade meetings.
✅ Monitor category and market trends — with a particular focus on World Foods and Frozen Foods.
✅ Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, supply chain, finance) to ensure flawless delivery and execution.
🧠 About You
✨ Proven success in the World Foods category within UK or EU retail.
✨ Experience in Frozen Foods is a strong advantage — particularly within World Foods or ethnic frozen ranges.
✨ Established track record managing or developing accounts with leading UK retailers (ASDA, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Iceland, Costco, Ocado, Farmfoods, Aldi, Lidl, etc.).
✨ Expertise in Joint Business Planning, category management, and retailer commercial frameworks.
✨ Excellent communicator, negotiator, and relationship builder at senior buyer level.
✨ Strategic and entrepreneurial mindset with hands-on commercial execution.
✨ Able to work flexibly (minimum 2 days per week) and independently.
✨ Willing to travel nationally to visit key retail and foodservice partners.
