We are inviting applications for the post of Senior Clinical Fellow (Registrar grade) in the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Department at St George's Hospital, London. We welcome senior Plastic Surgery trainees who have had at least 3 years' experience at Registrar level in Plastic Surgery Departments in the NHS to apply for the post.
Main Duties of the Job
The successful applicant will join our busy team with a wide range of subspecialty interests and will gain valuable experience in each of these including head & neck, breast reconstruction, post‑bariatric body contouring, melanoma & skin cancer, adult and congenital hand & wrist, paediatric plastic surgery and trauma / lower limb surgery. The post is ideal for those looking for increasing experience and logbook numbers in a subspecialty interest within Plastic Surgery. We will support your training including through providing regular formal and informal teaching sessions, Workplace Based Assessments, welcoming your contribution to ongoing audit and research projects, and supporting setting up new projects of your own.

Responsibilities

We will support your training including through providing regular formal and informal teaching sessions, Workplace Based Assessments, welcoming your contribution to ongoing audit and research projects, and supporting setting up new projects of your own. We have 13 consultant Plastic Surgeons, two locum consultant Plastic Surgeons, an Associate Specialist, 13 Registrar‑grade and 6 Core Training grade doctors. We have a Physicians Associate and 3 FY1 doctors. We work closely with our specialty nurses, hand therapists, admin and management staff to provide a high standard of care to our patients. We operate a hub and spoke model providing outreach services in other hospitals across Southwest London.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications and Training
 * MRCS or equivalent
 * Possession of, or eligibility for Full Registration with the GMC
Desirable Qualifications
 * Higher Degree
Experience
 * Experience at registrar level with at least 1 year
 * Motivated to ensure the achievement of defined targets
 * Demonstrate commitment and ability to teach and train undergraduates, junior doctors, nurses and other staff groups
 * Experience of clinical audit
 * Relevant research articles in peer‑reviewed journals
Essential Skills
 * A developing knowledge of the basic science of surgery and the ability to apply this to clinical practice
 * Demonstrate leadership skills within a multidisciplinary team
 * Ability to motivate staff to facilitate appropriate changes in clinical practice and to work as part of a team

Essential Knowledge
