Events and Projects Executive Position: Full Time/Permanent Location: New Scientist Headquarters, Derry Street, HSK, London, W8 5HY About the Role The New Scientist Commercial and Events team runs live and virtual consumer events—including the multi‑award‑winning New Scientist Live festival—as well as delivering bespoke content solutions for a broad range of clients, including sponsored articles, virtual events, short videos and podcasts. To support the continued development of these exciting commercial activities, we are seeking an Events and Projects Executive to work with the team to deliver across these areas of the New Scientist business. The Events and Projects Executive will work closely with the wider team to assist in the planning and delivery of New Scientist Live, and in the management and delivery of individual commercial content projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in project and event planning and management, and be a highly organised, self‑motivated and efficient individual with a can‑do attitude, great attention to detail, and the ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Experience working on‑site at a large consumer event would be an advantage. Main Responsibilities New Scientist Live Event Management Working with the wider New Scientist Live team to assist with the planning and delivery of this multi‑day, world‑class science festival, supporting our speakers, visitors, sponsors and exhibitors Managing our Schools Day widening participation programme Managing and expanding our weekend visitor widening participation programme Maintaining a strong focus on customer experience: Monitoring and responding to customer queries Monitoring customer feedback and reporting back to the team Working with the wider events team to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction Project Management of Commercial Content Projects (New Scientist CoLab) Engaging with client stakeholders, key suppliers (freelance writers, event/podcast hosts, video production teams, market researchers, etc.) and colleagues in design, marketing and production to ensure commercial content projects and associated media campaigns are delivered on time and according to contracted deliverables Managing the creation of digital media assets for individual commercial projects Setting up and monitoring booked media campaigns for individual commercial projects Managing P&Ls for individual commercial projects, providing regular updates and projections to the Head of Product Delivery and the Management Accounting team Ensuring commercial projects are delivered within the agreed costs Producing end‑of‑project reporting and analysis for key stakeholders Person Specification Previous Project and event planning and management experience Excellent organisational, time‑management and prioritisation skills Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy Strong Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills Positive, enthusiastic approach and ability to work using own initiative Proven ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines Excellent spelling, grammar, writing and communication skills Team player; reliable, approachable, hard‑working and flexible ABOUT NEW SCIENTIST New Scientist is a magazine brand for the insatiably curious, asking the big-picture questions about life, the universe and what it means to be human.
