Job overview

The Clinical Simulation (CSC) Team is looking for a Simulation Technician to join our workforce. This is a unique chance for a technician to join the CSC as part of the GOSH Learning Academy.

This dynamic role presents the opportunity to apply a combination of technical, creative, administrative and team working skills to work within one of six priority areas under the GOSH Learning Academy. The post holder will provide technical support to the CSC Team, assisting the delivery of a range of simulation activities. These include but are not limited to; online and face to face full immersion simulation delivered within and beyond GOSH, AR and VR assisted simulation, and part task training for technical skills development.

Main duties of the job

• Liaise with the Biomedical engineering department and other providers where appropriate to ensure that all equipment is serviced and maintained.
• Ensure that storage areas are kept tidy and appropriately stocked.
• To maintain necessary records related to simulation operations and equipment.
• To receive, set up and test new simulators and related equipment.
Administrative
• To maintain attendance records and track usage of the Clinical Simulation Centre.
• Maintain attendance registers and audit of room(s) usage.
• Maintain a booking system for rooms and equipment including bookings for the mobile simulators.
• Assist in the organisation of courses, catering, payments and necessary candidate materials.
• Organise dispersal of information to multi-professional faculty.
• Provide centre

Academic/Professional qualification/Training


Essential criteria

* Training to Diploma level equivalent or equivalent through short courses or experience
* Level 2 Literacy & numeracy
* NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in related subject


Experience/Knowledge


Essential criteria

* Experience of working in a simulation or similar technical setting
* Use of MS Office 2010 incl. Word Excel, PowerPoint, Access and corporate email systems
* An understanding of information governance
* An understanding of Health and Safety issues at work


Desirable criteria

* Substantial recent work experience in a similar technician role


Skills and abilities


Essential criteria

* Ability to prioritise and organise work to provide an effective quality service
* The ability to use complex technical equipment such as computer controlled simulated manikins and audio-visual equipment
* An ability to work flexibly and independently, both as part of a team and as an individual
* Proven ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people at all levels
* Ability to use Internet, database and online services
* Excellent telephone manner
* Excellent time management
