Overview
We are looking to appoint one enthusiastic Band 7 clinical psychologist to work within Mental Health Services for Older People at North Tyneside General Hospital. The post-holder would work alongside a multidisciplinary team including nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists and social workers. The post would involve working with older adults with functional and organic presentations, including therapy and neuropsychological assessment, with opportunities for development under supervision of more senior psychologists.
Responsibilities
* Provide psychological and neuropsychological assessment, formulation and therapy for older people with mental health difficulties.
* Offer advice to colleagues and carers on psychological aspects of assessment, formulation, care and treatment.
* Provide psychological input across inpatient and community settings as part of a multi-disciplinary team, delivering high-quality individualised care.
* Where appropriate, provide clinical supervision to less experienced staff in accordance with service needs.
* Utilise research skills for clinical audit and to inform service development.
Development and Roles
The post-holders may participate in Annex 20 development of professional roles, with potential progression after completing an agreed set of competencies.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Clinical psychology professional qualification and eligibility for registration with the relevant regulatory body.
* Experience working with older adults and mental health difficulties in a multidisciplinary setting.
* Ability to conduct neuropsychological assessments and deliver psychological therapies.
* Strong communication and collaborative skills; commitment to service development and continuous learning.
