Our university client invites applications for the inaugural Dean of Research, Enterprise and Knowledge Mobilisation (REKM). This newly created role sits at the heart of a transformational change programme that has reimagined the university’s research & enterprise infrastructure, with a bold ambition to deliver inclusive, sustainable and community-engaged research and knowledge mobilisation.
Scope & Strategic Impact
Reporting to the Senior Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research, Enterprise and Business Development), the Dean will:
* Lead the university’s research ambitions and shape strategy across the institution.
* Ensure alignment between institutional goals and local delivery, driving cultural change following a major restructure.
* Drive the university’s submissions to REF and KEF and make a personal contribution to the research profile, commensurate with professorial status.
Challenges & Metrics
* By 2030, help the university reach the middle third of UK REF rankings.
* Achieve top 20 % performance in most areas of the Key Economic Factors (KEF).
* Grow research and enterprise income.
Key Requirements
* Strategic clarity, systems thinking, and the ability to inspire others.
* Prior leadership experience as an Associate Dean of Research, or a similar role.
* Experience in university research strategy, REF or KEF submissions.
* Strong record of research excellence and enterprise engagement.
