We are looking for a Senior Applied Scientist, with expertise in deep learning, to join our cross-functional AI Trade Optimisation team. We build algorithms and machine learning systems for pricing, customer targeting, and product understanding. To do so, we leverage unique datasets of transactions and click streams for millions of ASOS customers and hundreds of thousands of products.
Role Context
The role sits within the Applied Science domain, responsible for algorithms that power ASOS's digital ecosystem. This includes Recommender Systems and Pricing models that influence key operational decisions. The teams innovate and maintain these systems, training models on unique datasets, transactions, and clickstream data.
What You'll Be Doing
1. Participate in an agile, cross-functional team to develop causal algorithms for pricing, forecasting, and customer targeting.
2. Lead the design and implementation of impactful algorithms, conduct R&D, engage stakeholders, and perform large-scale experiments to test hypotheses and inform product development.
3. Write production-grade code and contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of our codebases and technology, adhering to best practices in MLOps.
4. Stay updated with state-of-the-art research, participate in reading groups, and have opportunities to publish prototypes at top conferences.
5. Mentor and coach junior team members, supporting their technical growth.
About Us
ASOS is the online retailer for fashion enthusiasts worldwide. We empower our customers and our team to be authentic and creative. We are committed to inclusivity and diversity, as reflected in our memberships and awards.
About You
1. Experienced in machine learning with practical application in production, familiar with statistics, regression, ensemble methods, and deep learning. Knowledge of optimization, causal methods, or reinforcement learning is advantageous.
2. Proficient in Python and at least one deep learning framework (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow). Experience with distributed training frameworks (e.g., Horovod, DeepSpeed) is a plus.
3. Understand software development lifecycles, engineering practices, and can produce production-grade code.
4. Capable of managing projects independently, delivering prototypes on time, and collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
5. We value R&D experience and publications in top-tier ML conferences or journals (e.g., NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, KDD, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ACL, EMNLP).
