Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Chesterfield)
We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and supportive primary school in Chesterfield. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children’s learning and making a positive impact in the classroom.
About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support the delivery of engaging lessons and help create a positive, inclusive learning environment. You will assist pupils in reaching their full potential, both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality lessons
2. Work with small groups and individual pupils to reinforce learning
3. Assist in preparing classroom resources and activities
4. Promote positive behaviour and support pupils’ wellbeing
5. Help to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
6. Provide feedback on pupil progress where required
Essential Requirements
7. Previous experience working within a UK school setting
8. General classroom experience supporting primary-aged pupils
9. Good understanding of the primary curriculum
10. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
11. A patient, proactive, and positive approach
12. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Desirable (but not essential)
13. Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3)
14. Experience supporting children with additional needs (SEND)
