We have two highly regarded brands; SiS which combines world-class knowledge and scientific formulations to provide optimal performance solutions for endurance athletes, supplying over 320 professional teams worldwide. Brand ambassadors include former track cyclist Sir Chris Hoy.
PhD Nutrition is a premium active-nutrition brand targeting the active lifestyle community; fuelled by science our products help maximise performance, whether this is building strength, getting leaner, or everyday wellness. PhD brand ambassadors include leading strength and endurance athlete Ross Edgley.
The two brands sell through the Company's phd.com and scienceinsport.com digital platforms, third-party online sites, including Amazon, and extensive retail distribution in the UK and internationally.
In 2022 the company opened a state of the art 160,000 square foot manufacturing and logistics facility in Blackburn, Lancashire. Providing a significant advantage in product costs and customer response time. And this allows Science in Sport to have the highest standards of quality.
Science in Sport is Performance Solutions partner to Ineos Grenadiers cycling team, Tottenham Hotspur, New York City and OGC Nice football clubs, in addition to being the Official Nutrition Partner to the Milwaukee Bucks, 2021 National Basketball Association Champions and in 2023, winner of the women’s marathon at the 2022 World Athletics Championships, Gotytom Gebreslase.
The Role
The overall purpose of your role is to manage the company’s supply needs and be able to plan and coordinate the purchasing of products. Ensuring that we meet the best buying deals and have the correct level of stock to guarantee production runs smoothly against plan and optimal cost. You will drive EBITDA performance through the delivery of savings, rebates and efficiencies. Collaborating with suppliers, Goods in and Production and play a pivotal role in ensuring the key stakeholders can deliver the company goals of availability and CPU targets.

The work - Your 4 most important responsibilities
* Obtaining best value for money across company spend
* Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers, leading negotiations
* Managing inventory levels, supplier spend per month and overall stock holding agreements
* Identifying cost savings and present associated proposals resulting in improvement in EBITDA
Accountability – what you are responsible for delivering
Operational
* Build authentic relationships with suppliers and customers. The main focus is driving savings and optimising supplier relationships. You have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our company's bottom line delivering tangible results
* Monitoring stock quality and escalating any discrepancies internally and to suppliers
* Implement, monitor, and feedback supplier SLAs and KPIs
* Continuously monitor inventory, delivery dates and replenishment
* Review production, incoming deliveries, and timings to analyse and make recommendations for possible amendments
* Looking outside of supply chain to review budget and spend per department and working with relevant stakeholders to review cost base with a view to go to market and ensure best value for spend
* Manage cash out of the business and ensure we are within our constraints
* Arranging transport of goods where necessary and tracking orders to ensure timely delivery
* Attending relevant events – trade shows, supplier premises
Tactical
* Implement and maintain supply chain processes and raw material strategies
* Carry out supplier audits onsite with the Quality team to determine better process and control
* Looking at alternative ways to hold stock, improve delivery process and stock availability
* Involvement in CAPEX projects, playing a key role in all negotiations
Capability - the skills and behaviours required to do this job well
* Proficient with Excel and Microsoft Office
* Previous knowledge of SAP would be advantageous
* Attention to detail across contracts and terms and conditions
* Methodical approach and great organisational skills
* Cultivate and maintain relationships internally and externally to influence
* Collaboration within Supply Chain team and ability to work cross-functionally
* Ability to communicate at all levels, ranging from an operator up to COO level. Ensuring language and presentation is suited to each audience andscenario
* Negotiation skills to achieve best outcomes with supplier and third-party terms and conditions

Experience
* Understanding of manufacturing processes
* Understanding the market and industry, analyse trends to make informed buying decisions
* Having started or looking to complete professional qualification within procurement, CIPS or equivalent is desirable
* Previous experience within Procurement and Supply Chain function
* Understand the implication of purchasing decisions on cash
Mindset
* Solution-focused to find mutually beneficial solutions that contribute to both stakeholder satisfaction and company profitability
