Overview
University Hospital Bristol and Weston (UHBW) are looking for Band 3 Senior Healthcare Support Workers (SHCSW) in a variety of Ward and Theatre opportunities. You will be required to be fully flexible across all shift patterns, including weekdays, weekends, nights and bank holidays. 23 hours per week is the minimum for a part‑time role.

Responsibilities
* Provide direct patient care while maintaining the privacy and dignity of patients.
* Work alongside a registered nurse to deliver essential nursing care for adult patients.
* Assist patients with daily living tasks, including washing, toileting, and meals.
* Support mobility needs and give pressure area care.
* Provide emotional support to patients and their families.
* Undertake one‑to‑one observation for patients at high risk from a clinical perspective.
* Help maintain a clean and safe ward environment to prevent infection and falls.
Qualifications & Experience
* Previous hospital healthcare experience is essential.
* Good academic qualifications are required. (See attached job description for details.)
* Band 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker role eligibility.
Working Hours
37.5 hours per week (full‑time) or 24 hours per week (part‑time). You will be required to work long shifts (12 hours) which include days, nights, weekends and bank holidays. This role is physically demanding and you will be on your feet for long periods. It is also emotionally demanding, requiring quick adaptation to constantly changing clinical demands.
Salary & Sponsorship
From the 9th April 2025, the minimum salary required for a Skilled Worker visa became £25,000 per year. This role does not currently meet that threshold for the certificate of sponsorship. While a higher point on the pay scale may be offered depending on NHS experience, most new starters are appointed at the bottom of the band.
