 
        
        The successful candidate will be expected to provide inpatient and outpatient care to patients. The appointment offers exciting opportunities for those with a specific interest in endometriosis, including regular joint operating sessions with colorectal colleagues. Competency in emergency gynaecological operating is an expectation of the postholder. The exact programme activity allocation will be subject to agreement with the Clinical Director and an indicative job plan is included. Integral to the responsibilities of the post are the following requirements.
Responsibilities
 * Ensure provision of a first‑class clinical service.
 * Provide effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty.
 * Sustain and develop teaching and research wherever appropriate.
 * Undertake all work in accordance with the Trust’s procedures and operating policies.
 * Conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Trust’s and Division’s services plans.
 * Maintain confidence in business plans and development strategies formulated for the specialty, the Family Care Division or the Trust.
 * Deliver general gynaecology clinics and specialist care, including complex endometriosis surgery and robotic operative procedures where applicable.
 * Participate in teaching clinical skills to undergraduates and postgraduates.
 * Contribute to audit, research and continuing professional development activities.
Essential Qualifications
 * UK professional registration with the NMC.
 * Confirmed training and experience equivalent to UK CCT in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
 * MRCOG or equivalent specialist qualification.
 * Experience in emergency gynaecological surgery.
 * Experience of complex endometriosis surgery.
 * Experience of teaching clinical skills to undergraduates and postgraduates.
 * Knowledge of UK hospital systems and practices.
 * ATSM in benign abdominal surgery or equivalent.
Desirable Additional Skills
 * Experience with robotic surgery.
 * ATSM in advanced laparoscopic surgery.
 * Completion of a management course or programme.
 * Advanced laparoscopic modules accredited by the RCOG.
Location: The post will be based at Burnley General Hospital, although this may be subject to change. The Lancashire Women & Newborn Centre is a BSGE Accredited Endometriosis Centre and offers access to robotic operating theatres.
Disclosure and Barring Scheme (DBS) checks will be required for this role. The cost of an enhanced disclosure is £55.38 and for a standard disclosure £27.38.
