Home-Start is a voluntary organisation committed to promoting the welfare of families with at least one child aged 5 years or under, through recruiting and training volunteers to provide family support.
Through the partnership we have with The Highland Council and supported by The Whole Family Wellbeing Fund we have an exciting opportunity for a new role of PEEP Development Worker to join our team on a full-time basis.
Peep is an early intervention programme that aims to build parenting capacity by empowering parents and carers to feel more confident in supporting their children's learning and development. This is mainly done by delivery of the Peep Learning Together Programme through group and 1-1 work. The main focus is on language skills, literacy, and numeracy with the building of self-esteem and positive attitudes towards learning, regarded as hugely important in encouraging both adults and children to become lifelong learners. Through the programme, Peep aims to enable families to feel part of their community as well as boosting their knowledge, confidence, and motivation
Main Duties and Responsibilities
· Promote the development of Peep across the Highlands by collaborating with parents, council, NHS, stakeholders, third sector partners and volunteers.
· Support the development of Peep locally and nationally adhering to the principles of Peep and council/government frameworks.
· Promote and empower parents to reach their full potential – through 1:1 support, groupwork and training using the Peep programmes.
· Motivate, guide and support Peep practitioners to establish and maintain the high-quality delivery of Peep programmes to individuals and groups by working alongside targeted and universal children and families.
· Ensure there is a consistent approach in the delivery of Peep across Highlands monitoring and evaluating its effectiveness.
· Produce publicity materials to promote the differing Peep programmes to be shared with parents, carers and professionals.
· Support Peep Co-ordinator with daily admin tasks, ensuring data bases and practitioner details are kept up to date.

Person Specification:
Experience/Knowledge
· Understanding of Peeple (organisation) and the programmes they offer.
· Experience of working with young children and families in a supportive role.
· The ability to deliver support appropriately within the scope of Peep programmes and to work in line with agreed policies and procedures.
· A sound knowledge of child development, parenting issues and the early years national and local agenda.
· Experience of working within cross-sector, multi-agency partnerships and developing networks.
· Experience of delivering groupwork
· Aptitude for building, developing and sustaining positive relationships.
· Excellent communication skills, verbally and written.
· Good organisational, recording, administrative and IT systems skills.
· Be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable attributes
· The successful candidate should ideally hold a recognised qualification in Childcare or Social care or have had experience of working with children and families.
· Be registered with SSSC if appropriate or be willing to apply to SCCC to register as a practitioner.
