We support the full project lifecycle, from pre-contract to post-contract, delivering infrastructure projects ranging from a few hundred thousand pounds to over £200M.

Job Description
Important: Due to the sensitive nature of these projects, you must be a SOLE UK National capable of obtaining and maintaining UK MoD Security Clearance (SC). See Security Clearance Section.

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to join the Defence North team, supporting construction infrastructure projects across the North of the UK, including Midlands, Cumbria, North East, and Scotland, with opportunities across the UK. The team comprises over 40 members, based mainly in Manchester, with others in Nottingham, Leeds, Barrow, and Glasgow.
This role suits Project Managers from Defence, Nuclear, Infrastructure, or Construction backgrounds with proven experience and understanding of process and governance. NEC accreditation and contract management proficiency are advantageous.
This is a consultancy role in a client-focused environment, requiring approximately 60% site or office presence, including travel, adaptable based on project needs.
Main Responsibilities
* Lead project management commissions, ensuring end-to-end service delivery.
* Manage client relationships and develop new ones.
* Support major project management commissions, overseeing specific service aspects.
* Control project budgets, including monthly forecasting and financial management.
* Manage project schedules and complex project elements.
* Ensure projects meet client objectives, deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.
* Assist clients in transitioning to Net Zero and enhancing sustainability.
* Build long-term trusted advisor relationships with clients.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Degree or equivalent in a relevant field with relatable experience.
* Professional qualification (APM, PMI, Prince2).
* Experience managing NEC or similar contracts.
* Project management experience across various disciplines and sectors.
* Proficiency in project planning software like Primavera or MS Project.
Desirable Skills
* Experience with UK Government and Tier 1 organizations, especially Defence.
* NEC PMA accreditation and contract management software experience (e.g., CEMAR).
* Experience in construction/infrastructure sectors, including RIBA stages.
* Experience in strategic planning, construction, and delivery of infrastructure projects.
* Bid management experience.
* Membership of relevant chartered bodies (MAPM, MCIWEM, MICE, MCIOB, MRICS).
* Mentoring junior project managers.
Work Environment & Attendance
We support hybrid working to balance work and life commitments. Attendance at client sites or offices is expected about 60% of the time, with flexibility depending on project needs.
