The National Social Work Agency (NSWA) is an Executive Agency with responsibility for advising Ministers and policy teams with an interest in all aspects of social work policy and practice, including adults, children, and justice social work. Additionally, the NSWA will provide cross governmental policy input in areas including health and social care, mental health, children and families, prisons and all aspects of public protection.
This is a new agency with highly motivated staff, who take pride in their work and strive to ensure effective person‑centred, and trauma responsive support is available for people of all ages in Scotland. The work is fast‑paced, high profile, varied and rewarding.
The NSWA is looking for an experienced social work practitioner to join the Implementation and Improvement Unit who will have a key role in supporting a national approach to implementation and improvement support for the social work workforce.
This post will require a level of travel across Scotland which will include some overnight stays to support in person training and implementation support.
Responsibilities
Work as part of a team to develop, test, support and implement evidence‑based and insight led programmes of improvement for the social work workforce, leaders, systems and practice, aligned with national priorities, to a range of social work services in children’s, adult and justice social work, in collaboration with partners
Draw on your social work practice experience, knowledge and skills to deliver the NSWA Trauma Responsive Social Work Services Implementation and Learning Programme, including delivery of a comprehensive programme of implementation support, training, consultancy, coaching and contributing to a sustainable infrastructure through training for trainers
* Work with colleagues across the NSWA and SG policy leads and key stakeholders, to consider new developing SG policy that impacts on social work, provide advice in relation to implementation into social work practice, how this may impact on existing implementation work, and where there are agreed priority areas, work to ensure integration into the work of the Implementation and Improvement Unit
* Keep up to date with current, innovative and evidence-based approaches to developing trauma informed and responsive services, systems and workforces, and other frameworks and guidance relevant to social work services and practice
* Contribute to evaluation processes relating to all improvement work of the Unit, work with key partners to share learning and lead development of an infrastructure to support wider spread of effective learning, including training for trainer’s programmes.
Qualifications
The post holder will be a qualified and registered social worker
This role is a permanent level transfer position.
