Job Overview

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a qualified Reporting Sonographer to join our forward‑thinking Ultrasound team at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, with opportunities to work across our Community Hospitals in Chirk and Deeside, providing a varied and rewarding caseload. As a Band 7 Reporting Sonographer, you will play a key role in the development of the Ultrasound service, working collaboratively with senior colleagues to ensure care is high quality, patient‑centred, safe and responsive to the needs of our communities. You will join a dedicated team of Sonographers and Radiographic Assistants, known for strong professional standards, peer support and a commitment to continuous improvement. We support professional development and offer flexibility, including extended days to support service delivery and work‑life balance. The department benefits from a modern ultrasound fleet, with most equipment purchased within the last two years and managed in line with Canadian Equipment Lifecycle standards. We use the Trophon 2 system for probe decontamination and provide chaperone support for all examinations.

Main Duties

As a Reporting Sonographer, you will be professionally and independently responsible for performing and reporting a wide range of specialised ultrasound examinations to a high clinical standard. You will work in accordance with departmental policies and professional guidelines, remaining fully accountable for your own clinical practice and decisions. The role requires excellent diagnostic and reporting skills, underpinned by significant postgraduate ultrasound experience and a recognised postgraduate qualification. You will be expected to demonstrate expertise across a broad clinical caseload, including general abdominal, gynaecological, obstetric and DVT examinations. Experience in small parts and/or musculoskeletal ultrasound would be advantageous. You will contribute to the delivery of a high‑quality, patient‑focused ultrasound service, maintaining professionalism, accuracy and patient dignity at all times, while working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications & Eligibility

* Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound (or equivalent) awarded by a CASE‑accredited UK university.
* Registration with the HCPC.
* Experience in general abdominal, gynaecological, obstetric and DVT examinations.
* Experience in small parts and/or musculoskeletal ultrasound is advantageous.
* Fluency in Welsh is desirable but not required; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome.
* Ability to perform face‑to‑face interviews and on‑site assessments.

EEO Statement

Applications may be submitted in Welsh. Applications submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application submitted in English.
