Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals wish to appoint a Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology. The successful candidate will join a team of 7 Consultants and will be based at Warrington Hospital, with potential clinics at the Halton Health Hub in the future.
The main responsibilities include managing general and acute Ophthalmology patients, delivering sub-specialty care such as medical retina, and participating in laser and theatre sessions depending on experience. Support and training will be provided to develop necessary skills.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support outpatient clinics, including general ophthalmology and emergency eye care, covering Primary Care, Emergency Care, and Retinal Primary Care.
2. Manage acute and medical emergencies independently.
3. Support sub-specialty clinics, mainly medical retina, glaucoma, oculoplastics, and paediatrics, as confirmed during job planning.
4. Conduct laser clinics related to medical retina.
5. Participate in theatre sessions, with details to be discussed at interview based on experience and capacity.
6. Attend a job plan meeting with the Clinical Lead and CBU Manager.
Clinical Duties:
1. Manage primary care clinics (general, retina, cataract), formulate treatment plans, seek advice, and list for surgery.
2. Manage emergency eye clinic patients appropriately.
3. Support sub-specialty clinics as outlined.
4. Conduct independent laser clinics.
5. Discuss potential cataract surgery/minor ops during interview.
PA allocation aligns with Specialty Doctor guidelines. Flexibility in job plans will be considered to promote work-life balance.
