The Federation of Crigglestone and The Castle Nursery Schools are Curiosity Approach settings. We have high aspirations for all of our children. We provide children with safe, secure and nurturing environments which enable them to become ‘thinkers and doers’ of the future. We aim to spark curiosity, awe, wonder and a love of learning for all of our children, giving them the firm foundations to develop as successful lifelong learners.

Due to the expansion of our wraparound care, we are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and committed Afterschool Club Assistant to join our dedicated Early Years team.

We are looking for an experienced early years practitioner, with an approved Level 2 or above childcare qualification, to work in our After School Club from 3pm each day. You will work with our After School Club Leader to provide a warm and welcoming environment with a relaxed family feel whilst keeping in line with the Curiosity Approach. You will support in planning, preparing and delivering varied and interesting activities, preparing a light meal and a ttending to pupils’ personal needs and providing general support in supervising and managing pupils at the end of the school day.

This post is initially based at our Crigglestone school and is temporary for 6 months in the first instance. The post would become permanent if our extended afterschool club proves to be popular. All of our posts are ‘federation posts’ and you may be asked to work at our other school depending on need.

Key Outcomes/ Activities

* As part of the wraparound care team, you will provide a warm and welcoming environment attending to the needs of children attending our afterschool club
* Greet children on arrival at the club, provide and supervise play, ensuring pupil safety.
* Prepare food as required, as per menu of day, assist younger children to cut up food.
* Follow Risk Assessments guidelines.
* Follow Food Hygiene guidelines.
* Deal with incidents in accordance with agreed after school club policy strategies; encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour.
* Liaise with parents.
* Ensure that any person on the premises is authorised to be there.
* You will need to have good communication skills, which will support the children to further develop their communication and language skills
* You will need to be a positive role model
* A minimum of Level 2 (Childcare / Teaching Assistant) qualification is required for the Afterschool Club Assistant Post.
* Experience of working in early years settings previously is desirable
* A Paediatric First Aid qualification is required or willingness to undertake ASAP

This post is 15 hours per week. Term time only. Hours of work will be 3pm until 6pm.

Pay Range:

Full Time Equivalent: £24,790 - £25,183

Actual Pay for 15 hours, term time only: £8,401 - £8,534

(Pay Award pending)

Starting pay depends on experience

Start Date: 1st September 2025

Closing Date: Monday 7th July 2025
