The Best Connection Ltd is an employment business recruiting on behalf of our client.
Our client is the leading Kitchen Furniture manufacturer based in Howden, East Yorkshire, and have given us the opportunity to recruit for a CE Day driver to undergo assessment and induction.
The work will be curtain side trailer multi drop work to distribute flat packed, palleted kitchen furniture products to their trade outlets in our region. There may also be backloads to return with. Start times may vary from 04.00 to 09.00 or so. High levels of skill and professionalism are required in this role particularly in securing the load on the trailer with straps, coupling to the unit and adhering strictly to the tachograph and WTD rules. Truck performance is monitored by Microlise real time analysis and drivers are expected to drive in accordance with Microlise best practice.
PAY RATES :
* Day work Monday to Friday is paid at £ 19.23 per hour.
* Day weekend work is paid at £ 24.06 per hour.
* All breaks are paid and you are guaranteed a minimum 8 hours paid per shift.
* An induction is required prior to starting work and is run over 2 days.
Day 1 the driver will undergo some visual material related to driving skill & hazard awareness, health and safety and tachograph and highway code knowledge and then go on a driving assessment. This will take approximately 4 hours. Day 1 will be paid for hours done only.
Day 2 requires the driver to attend a full working day usually starting around 05.30 accompanied by an assessing trainer. Day 2 is subject to a guaranteed minimum 8 hour payment, however, it is likely that Day 2 will be for roughly 10 hours.
Ongoing, full time work is available following successful completion of the assessment and induction process.
Applicants must be well experienced and competent drivers in the use of articulated class 1 vehicles and curtain sider trailer equipment and must have held their CE entitlement for at least 1 year with active driving throughout that period. Very good strapping skills are required for this role.
Our client operates a zero tolerance KPI on tachograph and WTD infringements and also uses Microlise for driver & vehicle management which candidates are asked to take on board as part of their routine driver supervision.
