Your New Role:
We're looking for a proactive and detail-driven Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance Operations team. In this key role, you'll be responsible for the review, preparation, and analysis of profit & loss and balance sheet data, supporting end-to-end financial processes, and contributing to ongoing process improvement initiatives.
* You'll work with stakeholders across QBE's international teams-Australia Pacific, North America, and our Global Shared Services Centre-navigating complex systems to deliver accurate and timely financial reporting.
* Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
* Preparing and reviewing journals and reconciliations, ensuring compliance with control frameworks.
* Conducting monthly GWP (Gross Written Premium) reviews and contributing to TM1 premium, claims and commission reporting.
* Using financial systems including Oracle Fusion, TM1, and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM).
* Investigating and explaining variances in financial results, working to tight month-end deadlines.
* Identifying and leading process improvement initiatives to enhance financial reporting efficiency.
* Collaborating closely with offshore teams and cross-regional finance colleagues across different time zones.
About you:
You're someone who enjoys getting into the detail" and thrives in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments. You bring a curious, improvement-focused mindset and are confident working across teams and systems.
Ideally, you'll bring:
* A recognised accounting qualification (or be newly/nearly qualified), or qualified by experience.
* Strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail.
* Comfort working with complex finance systems such as Oracle, TM1, or HFM.
* A collaborative approach with experience mentoring or supporting junior colleagues.
* Confidence in managing competing priorities and stakeholder expectations, with a solid grasp of month-end financial cycles.
* Flexibility and adaptability-able to work with international teams and embrace change.
* Experience in the insurance or financial services industry is a bonus, but not essential.
