Role: Teaching Assistant
Location: M30, Manchester
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM (one day until 4:00 PM for training)
Pay: £13.69 to £15.87 per hour (Dependent on Experience)
Start Date: As soon as possible
Duration: Long-term, ongoing

Reeson Education is recruiting an enthusiastic and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH secondary school in the M30 area. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting pupils aged 11-16 with a variety of additional needs.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with SEMH challenges, behavioural needs, social anxieties, and other learning difficulties. The school is looking for a confident and adaptable Teaching Assistant who can build positive relationships, encourage engagement, and help pupils develop both academically and emotionally.

Teaching Assistant Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide one-to-one and group support for pupils with SEMH needs
2. Assist teachers in delivering tailored lessons as a proactive Teaching Assistant
3. Promote positive behaviour and de-escalate challenges calmly
4. Encourage pupils to build confidence and resilience in learning
5. Support pupils with social anxieties and additional learning needs
6. Work collaboratively with staff to create a safe and structured environment
7. Be consistent, reliable, and supportive as a dedicated Teaching Assistant
8. Attend weekly training sessions to develop your skills as a Teaching Assistant
9. Ensure safeguarding and pupil wellbeing at all times

Teaching Assistant Requirements:

10. Previous experience working with SEMH, behaviour, or additional needs
11. Resilient, patient, and able to remain calm under pressure
12. Strong communication and teamwork skills
13. Ability to adapt to a variety of needs and situations as a Teaching Assistant
14. Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
15. Full-time commitment to a long-term Teaching Assistant role
