You will work on one of the most exciting and significant sustainable energy projects that our country has ever seen, being at the forefront of the UK's climate change agenda and energy policy. Sizewell C is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for at least 60 years.
The Opportunity
During this four-year Degree Apprenticeship, you'll learn from our industry-leading experts and gain valuable experience while studying for a Bachelors' Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering at the National College for Nuclear in Bridgwater, Somerset. You'll follow the Level 6 Nuclear Scientist and Nuclear Engineer Apprentice Standard.
Your Work Location
For the first year of your programme you will be full time at the Bridgwater campus (residential). Future years are a mix of block release to the college and gaining practical experience with our Engineering teams in our London office. These teams may support areas such as design and engineering, core engineering, technical specification, pre-operations and engineering processes. You may also be required to travel to other locations for your placements, to support other business units and to expand your knowledge and experience of the Nuclear Industry.
Who You Are
* You will have GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above in English (language or literature) and Maths
* A minimum of 102 UCAS points – ideally three A-Levels (at grade C/4 or above, including Maths and a science subject) or a relevant Level 3 qualification (e.g. BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma with a strong mathematical element)
* A genuine interest in the nuclear industry and a passion for sustainability and being a part of making a difference
* We will need you to be open minded, flexible and have an agile way of thinking to succeed in a dynamic fast‑paced project environment
* Having a strategic mindset that brings innovative ideas
* Effective interpersonal skills are key, as well as being able to demonstrate high ethical behaviour, integrity, humility, and character
* Effective communication skills will be required to manage your stakeholders whilst prioritising competing demands
