This is a hands-on leadership role, managing a team of finance professionals and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting across multiple entities. Person Specification: Qualifications: Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent). Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred. Experience: Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role in a multi-site or multi-entity business. Strong management accounting, reporting, and consolidation experience. Experience managing and developing a finance team. Knowledge of complex group structures and intercompany transactions. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills. Skills & Attributes: Excellent leadership and people management abilities. Key Responsibilities: Financial Control & Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Manage consolidation of financial results across multiple companies and branches. Ensure accurate management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting. Monitor and analyse financial performance, providing actionable insights to senior management. Maintain strong financial controls and safeguard company assets. Lead annual budgeting and forecasting in collaboration with department heads. Coordinate with auditors and tax advisors to ensure timely completion of audits and tax filings. Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Management Accountants, Assistant Management Accountants, and Bookkeepers. Allocate workloads effectively and ensure deadlines are met. Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing development opportunities. Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture. Strategic Financial Leadership: Support the Finance Director/CFO in implementing the group’s financial strategy. Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and efficiency gains. Provide strategic financial guidance on business decisions, investments, and expansion plans. Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements (HMRC, Companies House, etc.). Systems & Processes: Oversee and develop financial systems to support the group’s growth. Drive implementation of new technologies or software to improve efficiency. Ensure data integrity and accuracy across all financial systems.
