Overview

Beaumont Care Homes is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) at Hawthorn House Care Home, Belfast. Location: Hawthorn House Care Home, 16 Hawthornden Road, Belfast, Northern Ireland, BT4 3JU.

Job Type: Full time. Salary: £20.33 per hour (rates depend on experience; newly qualified nurses may start at £18.27 per hour, rising to £19.30 after one year post-qualification/registration).

Main purpose of the role

To lead the care team to ensure delivery of excellent standards of care, prescribing, delivering and supervising care in accordance with Beaumont Care Homes Ltd policies and procedures; promoting rehabilitation where appropriate and independence where possible and desired with dignity and respect at all times, so residents live as they would wish it to be.


Key Responsibilities

* Deliver and oversee the highest possible standards of person-centred care; continually assess residents’ needs and wishes, developing the service to enhance quality of life.
* Champion independence and personal choice; develop, review and update care plans to meet changing physical, social and psychological needs.
* Oversee all aspects of medicines management on shift; ensure medicines are received, stored and administered in line with company policies and current legislation.
* Build and maintain a positive reputation for the business; communicate warmly and professionally with visitors, family and external stakeholders.
* Ensure all elements of resident experience are positive from admission to discharge.
* Participate professionally in inspection visits from RQIA, Trusts and CCGs; keep teams prepared to do the same.
* Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and best-practice guidelines; proactively manage risks and report issues appropriately.
* Follow rigorous monitoring and recording practices; document timely assessments on admission, care planning, ongoing reviews and incident reporting.
* Promote cohesive team working; ensure staff are supported to deliver high-quality care.
* Foster an atmosphere where staff feel connected to residents, the host home, and the wider organisation.
* Understand host-home targets and support the Home Manager in achieving them.
* Maintain high standards of nursing care; supervise staff and ensure smooth shift operations.
* Participate in all aspects of resident care; mentor others in line with the NMC Code; work within the NMC Code at all times.
* Attend internal and external meetings; participate in regular team meetings and monthly appraisals with the line manager.
* Act as a reflective, developmental practitioner; pursue continual professional development and meet revalidation requirements.

What you will need


Required criteria

* NMC Registered Nurse
* Numerate and literate; able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
* Proficient with IT and communication systems required for the role
* Ability to develop internal and external business relationships with mutual respect and professionalism
* Ability to work under pressure while motivating the team


Desirable criteria

* Experience delivering nursing care within the elderly health care sector
* People management experience
* Experience participating in quality and clinical governance programmes, including audits
